Think better,

write better.

This is much more than a writing workshop.

My 3 Pillar Approach:

With pedagogy grounded in Peter Elbow’s developmental freewriting methodology, I use writing as a vehicle for metacognition via curated literary texts. In other words, you’ll become a better writer. But even more importantly, you’ll become a better thinker.

  • Pillar 1: Curation & Metacognitive Modeling

    • I select premium, highly specific literary excerpts to dismantle any assumptions you might be carrying about what writing "should" look like. I use these texts as mirrors to expand your thinking, observe your own mental patterns and filters before you start writing.

  • Pillar 2: Non-Judgmental Generation (The Elbow Protocol)

    • I employ structured, timed free writing exercises designed to completely bypass the perfectionist "inner censor". I guide you to write down raw, unedited thoughts to discover what you actually believe, rather than forcing your ideas into a sterile, pre-fabricated template of what sounds "good".

  • Pillar 3: Craft & Critique

    • I provide high-level, craft-focused feedback on your writing. I teach you how to identify your authentic and natural writing style, pull out the core ideas, and refine the prose into clear, high-impact communication.

How to Start: The Voice Diagnostic

Every engagement at Heart-Centered Writing begins here. The Voice Diagnostic is a live, 45-minute collaborative mini-workshop, designed to uncap your thinking around a specific story or problem. Through guided exercises and free writing, you will come away with a new perspective, clarified writing, and tools you can use anytime you come to the blank page.

How it Works:

  1. You send me an active piece of writing you’re working on. This can be a brand strategy, a pitch, a speech or lecture draft, a company vision, or a piece of fiction, nonfiction or poetry. Up to 2,000 words.

  2. We meet to discuss your writing, and work through a metacognitive prompt to bypass your inner censor, then practice writing again from a new, deeper place.

  3. You leave with inline edits from me, a new plan for your piece, a Writing Personality profile, and new tools for your writing tool belt.
